ASSIGNMENT2 BORDEAUX HOUSE Proposal

This is my proposal which is the same house but I just changed the first floor walls from glass into solid walls and included the staircase, I also changed the windows from circular to rectangular with different sizes and location. Then we can see how the building has changed from a unique building to an ordinary house and it does not look something special. We learn that how design elements even small can change something from unique to ordinary so we can do the opposite and make something ordinary, unique by just using some elements.

ASSIGNMENT2 BORDEAUX HOUSE Stuctutre

This is a model i made to show the structural system of this building. The big concrete box is floating in the air by a steel column and a 800 deep beam and the same sizes of the beam column in one side and only one spiral staircase on the other side which is not evenly centred. However there is a steel beam from one side of the concrete box to the other side and projected out which is connected to a 2x2x2 meter concrete pod that is buried under the ground via steel cable. This makes the concrete box more stable against the dead load and live load and wind load in different situations.

In this analysis we can experience 3 different environment and 3 different views under one envelope of a building and the feeling that you might have in those environments. In ground floor, because it is carved out of the ground and almost everything is from smooth and rough concrete and on one side all glass that you can see the courtyard and the tree; you get the protected feeling that all the walls around you are really strong and you watching outside from your protected place.

In the first floor it feels like there is no limitation for you to enjoy the surrounding views and it gives the freedom of watching the scenery.

However, when you move up to second floor all you see is a heavy concrete box that you are in. Although it gives you the impression of being enclosed and contented, it frames certain views of outside in different locations and positions that you are in.

ASSIGNMENT2 BORDEAUX HOUSE Circulation

In this photos I have shown the circulation throughout the building and mainly focusing on wheelchair accessible areas and walking accessible areas. The circulation patterns show that the building is divided in to 2 separate parts in terms of accesses which also could be separated in other ways like parents and children and activities that happens in these parts.
